Have you lost a friend or family member outside the U.S.?
Yes
If yes, in what country or area was the person last seen?
Mexico
What is your interest in the Missing Americans Project?
To make others aware of the dangers of traveling to Mexico or most anywhere in Central America or the Carribean. I don't want this to happen to another family. Also, you are on your own if something goes wrong in a foreign country. The US will give you very little if any help in finding your loved one.

I received an email yesterday from the US Consulate. The Dept. of State has denied my request for a presumption of death to be issued for Ron.We gave them everything they asked for. It took them 8 months just to deny it. I have spent several thousand dollars and countless hours on this. To say the least, I am devastated and disgusted with our government. They would not help me find Ron or find who was reaponsible for his disappearance. Now, they deny me what little closure I could have and…

Tax $$ at work

Finally got the packet sent to US Consulate in Merida Mx to be fwd to the State Dept. for Ron's Presumption of Death request.

Not so fast...anything in Spanish has to be translated. Oh btw...here are 4 newspaper articles from local Mexican newpapers re: Ron's disappearance...from 2009! I have never seen these articles before! She has only had them 2 1/2 yrs! and I have to get those translated as well, since the Consulate is not responsible for translating documents.

So back to…

State Department ignores requests for forms necessary for Presumptive Death Certificate

I found out from my attorney today that after 6months of requesting the forms necessary to apply for a Presumptive Death Finding, she has had NO RESPONSE....in 6MONTHS!...This is so unacceptable, that I just don't have the words to say how I feel right now. Angry just does not cut it.
Our government is out of control and there is no one to be held accountable for their incompetance. How hard is it to respond to a request for forms??

Easter 2010

It was Easter Sunday last year that I was informed by the US Consulate by phone that my husband, Ronald was missing in Xcalak, Mexico. While April 11th is the actual 1 year anniversary of his disappearance, I still associate it with Easter. Holidays are such a difficult time for families of missing loved ones. I have survived this past year, by the grace of God. I celebrated the true meaning of Easter with my daughter, son in law and grandson in Dallas this year. I truly believe I will see Ron… Continue

Sadly enough, when some loved one goes missing it will always stay  and never disappear until the mystery is unrevealed of what actually happened, Ronald went fishing and disappeared, Ronald is also missing-sought in the Netherlands see this blog- http://www.vermist.nl/vermissingen/detail/vermiste/16984/  .  Perhaps if I had more details about his last known situation, I could try to make a profile for you! (Sometimes I make profiles about what possibly could have happened by analyzing multiple scenarios and excluding scenarios that likely did not happened, Rgds

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for your message. And ofcourse happy new year (how sad it is!!)

Unbelievable that this terrible thing happens to a lot of people. Poor all people. I feel sorry for everyone. This pain will never leave and all the questions and feelings of quilt: I wish I didn't let him go, why did he go etc. (I hope you understand what I mean??). I wish you this year again much strength and power to deal with this loss....xxxxxx

Thanks Cynthia, indeed grateful because we weren’t harmed. It saddens me though, that instead of being outraged for the lack of security and crime rate on the rise, we are, or if I may “most” be grateful because our physical integrity was “respected”.

Reading “PROCESO” a magazine in Mexico, I come to know, that Mexican Mafia, has mostlikely, a stronghold, guess where? No other than WESLACO, TX county, where my trailer was stolen.

Responsibility by American and Mexican governments MOST be demanded; the first one as the country of origin of almost 90% of the weapons cartels use, the second, for the lack of strategy and all de civil casualties because of this.

Mrs. Scheepstra - I am so very sorry about the loss of your husband. The torture of you not knowing what happened to him must be so devastating. My sincere condolences ...

More than likely there is a marked difference in the work that the dogs did when looking for Mr. Scheepstra and what I do. While I can do the 'traditional' search and rescue work, we specialize in working older cases - being able to run 'live scent' even after many months have passed. While you will find that after a day or so, there won't be many that will run live scent trails, we will be able to do this for months afterward which is extremely beneficial in finding out where the missing person went. Couple this with being able to work vehicle trails which most do not do, we can add quite a dimension to SAR when working with other resources. Please take a look at our website so that you can get an idea of the work that we do. www.vk9sar.org

Hi Cynthia, thank you so much for your post. Please email me privately and I will let you more about what we do - we do SO much more than 'traditional' SAR work ... you will be extremely surprised at what we do.

It is wonderful that so many good people are brought together by The Missing Americans Project, but so sad that this 'Project' needs to exist.

Growing rapidly - unfortunately thanks largely to your family and friends and those of Leo Finley. I have some things I'd like to speak with you about in the next few weeks as far as ways to get kicking in the new year. Is there a best day/time?

I am sorry to hear the news about Ron. I hope the FBI are able to get involved in the search. I hope & pray that you have a good outcome. Don't give up on hope.
