I received an email yesterday from the US Consulate. The Dept. of State has denied my request for a presumption of death to be issued for Ron.We gave them everything they asked for. It took them 8 months just to deny it. I have spent several thousand dollars and countless hours on this. To say the least, I am devastated and disgusted with our government. They would not help me find Ron or find who was reaponsible for his disappearance. Now, they deny me what little closure I could have and…

Tax $$ at work

Finally got the packet sent to US Consulate in Merida Mx to be fwd to the State Dept. for Ron's Presumption of Death request.

Not so fast...anything in Spanish has to be translated. Oh btw...here are 4 newspaper articles from local Mexican newpapers re: Ron's disappearance...from 2009! I have never seen these articles before! She has only had them 2 1/2 yrs! and I have to get those translated as well, since the Consulate is not responsible for translating documents.

So back to…

State Department ignores requests for forms necessary for Presumptive Death Certificate

I found out from my attorney today that after 6months of requesting the forms necessary to apply for a Presumptive Death Finding, she has had NO RESPONSE....in 6MONTHS!...This is so unacceptable, that I just don't have the words to say how I feel right now. Angry just does not cut it.
Our government is out of control and there is no one to be held accountable for their incompetance. How hard is it to respond to a request for forms??

Easter 2010

It was Easter Sunday last year that I was informed by the US Consulate by phone that my husband, Ronald was missing in Xcalak, Mexico. While April 11th is the actual 1 year anniversary of his disappearance, I still associate it with Easter. Holidays are such a difficult time for families of missing loved ones. I have survived this past year, by the grace of God. I celebrated the true meaning of Easter with my daughter, son in law and grandson in Dallas this year. I truly believe I will see Ron… Continue

The IRS

I just spent 2 hours on the phone with the IRS and THEY don't know how I am supposed to file our income taxes...they will get back with me.
Is anyone else having this problem, since the missing can not sign their return?

The US Government will help you if you are a Congressman!

I saw this on website rightsidenews.com:

23 year old American Kyle Mostello Belanger has been reported missing since last May and believed to have been kidnapped and is being held against his will for ransom in Juarez Mexico. The information has been forwarded to the Mexican Government and to the FBI and other U.S. agencies with no apparent follow-up investigations much less locating arresting and punishing his perpetrators.

U.S. law enforcement authorities helped… Continue

Christmas Bittersweet

Our family just made it through our first Christmas without our beloved Ron or "Opa" as our grandson calls him.

Keeping my focus on the true meaning of Christmas, helped me manage this Holiday Season. It was very bittersweet, because we are such a close family, Ron's absence seemed magnified. I tried to change up everything, from the way I decorated, to the food we ate, to the timing of our get togethers. Still, at the end of the day, Ron was not there. His booming voice and laughter were… Continue

I am not alone....

My thoughts and prayers are with the other families and friends with missing family members.
I know this is the most difficult of the "firsts"...and the one that we all go through at the same time.
Families of Joe, David , Michael and all the families with missing loved ones....Blessings to you and hopefully 2010 will give us some answers to our questions about what happened to them.

Making some noise

As soon as I got home, I started emailing my Congressman, and Senators who have shown interest in the past. Within 2 hours I had responses from all of them. I gave them my US Consulate Agent's contact information. Apparently they contacted her, because I had an email in my box yesterday morning addressed to me as well as the Congressman and Senators. The US Consulate in Merida, Mx has not been contacted by The Netherlands. She asked that we give her contact information to the Dutch authorities… Continue

Re: Ronald Scheepstra-wife's trip to The Netherlands

10/22/09-10/29/09

I travelled to The Netherlands, where my husband Ronald is from. I go here this time to attend a Rememberance Gathering for him. We had 71 visitors. It was not a sad affair. It was more like a party with a few tears. We remembered the Ron that everyone loved. Remembered how funny he was, how stubborn he was and how much he loved to fly fish.

I remembered what a wonderful husband he was and how much I miss him. Being here in Holland I see him everywhere I look....I… Continue
