Does anyone know how to connect with the families of these men? Maybe we could help them and they could help us by adding strength through numbers. Maybe some of you Texans could reach out? Watch the videoContinue

Deb, Renee: In talking with the media or anyone in government, make sure you refer to John's "ailing mother"... these people seem to think it's all about the missing person (who, if they never come back don't vote or buy papers). The need to be made to see that for each person who gets into trouble there are scores of irritable family members and friends who have more family members and friends in the legislators' districts. Deb and Cindy are our best PR assets, as far as this is concerned. I don't want to sound cold, but no one who matters (ie., has power to do anything) cares about our missing men. But they can be made to care about an ailing Mom, children who may or may not be orphans (esp., around Christmas). Need to milk out any remaining bit of human kindness these people have left.
Babies and pretty women get the action (and not necessarily pretty women). Adult men are assumed to either:
- Not want to be found
- Be up to no good
- Be able to take care of themselves.
Major awareness-building and education is required before things will ever change. Need to get senators believing their re-election depends on how they handle these cases. It's the only way they will risk political capital or exert themselves.
Well, the American Consulate has been busy. Apparently an American couple had a child with disabilities and they took the child to Matamoros and abandoned it there at an orphanage. The grandparents in the states wanted to adopt the child. So the whole story was on the news last night and how the American Consulate in Matamoros "facilitated" the return of the child to the grandparents. Frankly, I am not impressed... a month-old baby residing in an orphanage...ooooo, impressive... took them less than a week, maybe three phone calls? John has been MISSING for more than a month and all they have managed to do so far is FAX a poster to other consulates along the border.... Deb got better results going over and talking to the Mexican Police directly. YAY Deb!!!
Totally understand, Deb.
Have you reached out to your senators at all? In my experience, that has been the only thing that gets a rise out of State.
Sill after a week and half not a word back from the State dept. and still no word out of the American Cons. in Matamoros Mx
Jeff if my health was better I would take hold and go all the way with this, but at this time I cant do it. Will help anyone who want to take it on and be there to support them in any way I can
Kyle, John, Ron, the two boys in the Juarez jail, the three Texas businessmen, David Hartley -- we really need a coordinated campaign of outrage directed at Texas's senators and representatives. I don't have the bandwidth to lead it, but I will be happy to advise and support. Texas is the frontline - we need to take the battle to Washington. I'll be happy to talk about this with anyone who could be willing/able to do the legwork.
Jeff
