4 U.S. Citizens Killed in Mexico Over Weekend; 92 Since June 2009

Mexico authorities say they are probing the deaths of four U.S. citizens who were shot to death in separate attacks in the border city of Ciudad Juarez over the weekend, according to this Associated Press article. Furthermore, State Department officials say 92 Americans have been reported murdered in Mexico since June 2009.
On Sept. 10, the State Department issued a travel warning for Americans planning to head to Mexico. It warned against taking unnecessary trips to Michoacán, Tamaulipas, parts of Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango and Coahuila because of the ongoing drug violence.

I think you're absolutely right. In all of these countries, the "reported" numbers must be considered lower than reality by some factor - and in Mexico a particularly large factor.

I think 92 is a low estimate....there are those, like Ronald that are not officially reported murdered.
