Missing in Costa Rica

List of the missing and murdered in Costa Rica since May 2001

- Shannon Lucile Martin - U.S. college student murdered in Golfito in May 2001

- Brendan Dobbins - Australian tourist, disappeared 4 March, 2005 in Tamarindo. Remains eventually recovered.

- Craig Schnell – US expat disappeared on 18 February 2009 in Ostional. Body found – No clue how he died

- David Gimelfarb – US tourist disappeared in Rincon de Vieja on 11 August 2009 – Still missing

- Michael Dixon – British tourist disappeared in Tamarindo on 18 October 2009 – Still missing

- John Scibeck – US tourist murdered in Playa Portrero on 31 December 2009 – Case remains unsolved
- Kelly Robert Nutting – US expat found 8 March 2009 in the Ocean near Golfito with hands tied and feet in concrete. Costa Rican police initially pose it as a suicide.
- Langmeier Herbert and Orst Hauser – Two Austrian citizens disappeared December 2009 – Still missing, a man was found with their 4×4 and using their credit card but police say there is not enough evidence.
- Roger Peter Biennvennu – US tourist disappeared in Barrio Quebradas early July 2010 – Still missing
- Kim Paris – Canadian expat disappeared in Santa Teresa 25 August 2010. Still missing
- Austin Allen Hiers, 23 year old US tourist found dead on the side of the main road in Tamarindo 21 October 2010. Body full of bruises and gash on his head. Authorities say he died of a heart attack.
- Barbara Struncova - Czech woman disappeared in Tamarindo 5 December 2010 - Still missing

- Justin Johnson, U.S. high school student murdered by a hotel security guard, La Fortuna de San Carlos

This list does not include people known to have been swept away while swimming at Costa Rica's beaches, which, by and large, do not have lifeguards.

Barbara Struncova Missing from Tamarindo Barbara has been missing since December 5, 2010 from Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica between the hours of 1 am and 7 am. She was last seen entering her house in Playa Langosta at 1 am on December 5, 2010, but has not been seen since. Her family has not heard from Barbara since December 4, 2010.
