"Inside Costa Rica" Seeks Help to Keep Reporting

Inside Costa Rica is one of the few English-language papers in the Central America/Caribbean region that is dedicated to providing serious "warts-and-all" reporting, rather than endless puff pieces about how beautiful the beaches are. It tends to suffer financially as a result, because -- let's face it -- local advertisers are not wild about a stories on murders, disappearances, scams, and corruption that might make tourists think twice about coming. ICR recently had to run a fundraiser to remain in business and, even though their readers came through and EXCEEDED the fundraising target, you might want to consider making a donation anyway. Those of us who have suffered losses abroad and frustration due to lack of timely, reliable information appreciate the existence of a publication that tells the straight story in our language.
