Confused About Satellite Phones? Here's a Good Primer

Satellite phones, or sat phones, are mobile two-way communication devices that use satellites orbiting the Earth to receive and transmit data. For people traveling in remote or rustic destinations, they are an essential safety and communication tool. When climber John All was rescued in the Himalayas after a dramatic, life-threatening fall, it was entirely thanks to his sat phone and the rapid-response capabilities of Boston-based Global Rescue.

You don't need to be climbing in the Himalayas to require such services.  Immediate, reliable communication can be the difference between life and death at sea, in the mountains, or when traveling in the developing world or more remote areas of the developed world. Please Take a moment to read this primer on sat phones.
