Aubrey Sacco: One Year Missing, But Not Forgotten

Despite a $14,000 reward and FBI involvement -- something extremely rare in cases of U.S. citizens missing abroad -- Aubrey Sacco has not been found, a year after she disappeared while hiking in Nepal. Aubrey was, 23, was last seen April 22, 2010, in a small village known as Lama Hotel on the Langtang trail. Park records show she entered the Langtang trail from Syabrubesi on April 20. She stayed at a local hotel in Pairo on April 21.

Aubrey's family and friends remain determined to find her -- and just as hopeful that she will be found alive.

<"The longer it's gone on, the more hopeful we are that she's alive," her father, Paul Sacco,
told The Daily Camera. "No evidence has been found that she's not alive, that she was killed. There are lots of scenarios; anything could have happened. We just believe that the positive alternatives are more likely than the negative ones."

To mark the one-year anniversary, the family has invited those who know them to hang colorful ribbons, symbolizing Aubrey's "vibrant life and energy," in the yard of their Greeley, Colo., home alongside the prayer flags they brought back from Nepal.
