You're doing the right things. I would highly recommend that before you travel outside this country that you put all your affairs in order, making sure someone has durable power of attorney over your business/financial affairs. Murders and disappearances aren't unique to Latin America and the Caribbean - the problem is the lack of transparency and difficulty for families once there is a problem. I will write more to you on this score - I just got in and am very tired.

I continue to be amazed at the number of disappearances in Latin America and the Caribbean just since my brother's disappearance in May 2009. Apart from the loss, there are so many issues our families have to contend with that no one thinks about - at least no one in a position to help. We deeply appreciate your interest and support.
