Bipartisan Bill Would Require Reporting on Student Deaths Abroad

This could be huge!U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) have introduced bipartisan legislation – the American Students Abroad Act – to improve the sharing of information between the Department of State and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about the deaths of American students that occur while they are studying abroad.Specifically, the bill will require the Department of State to produce quarterly reports from U.S. Embassies and Consulates on the…See More

U.S. Citizen, Navy Vet, Faces up to 30 Years in Thai Prison on Bogus Charges; Media and U.S. Government Shrug

I just got off a Skype call with the family of Derrick Keller, a U.S. Navy veteran who has spent the past year in a jail cell in Thailand because, two years earlier, he was hired to perform in a promotional video for a business that turned out to be crooked.The only thing more frustrating than this is the wilful lack of attention demonstrated by Derrick's representatives, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, and most of the media. With the exception of KHOU -- Houston's CBS affiliate -- the media…See More

Interview With Wife of Derrick Keller, U.S. Navy Vet Being Held in Thailand

Below is an interview I recently conducted with Tanya Keller, wife of Derrick Keller, a U.S. citizen and Navy veteran who has spent nearly a year in a Thai prison. His crime? Performing in a promotional video for a company that turned out to be an international Ponzi scheme.

Please watch and share widely. This is not only important for getting the Kellers the help they need -- it also contains important information for anyone who travels as to how easy it is to get incarcerated abroad…

Hey Jeff I have a case of an american that we believed to be Frederick Beau Mix in mexico but turned out not to be , however he is an american, he clearly has some mental disease, possible schizophrenia and he calls himself, "wallace" or Henry" I have pictures and would love you to share, because he is CLEARLY amaerican, in Monterrey MX and homeless. They call him "Henry the Gringo" we have met him and I would love to know if there is a family out there missing this beautiful blue eyed man. The mexican government does not care about him, he clearly is american, they know he is, he has no passport and they laugh at him. However the local people love him.

Hi Jeff;

Yes & since I asked to join, we found out he is in prison in Dubai for taking photos in a restricted area. We were in touch with the Embassy who located him for us. He is an architect by trade (now a motivational speaker) who travels all over the world speaking.

He loves walking & taking pictures, esp. of interesting, architecturally, buildings. We know need to find how to get him released.
