What we know..

Owns aquarium/pet store in Matamoros, MX, and disappeared during the battles between the Mexican military and the Gulf Cartels and Zetas in that city, beginning on Nov.5, 2010. US Consulate has only ascertained that he is not in any hospital in that city or surrounding cities, and nothing more. They say they are not able to do any searching themselves but must rely on the Mexican authorities.

Thanks Jeff for that tweet link to the LA Times story.. the families voiced all of our fears... how hard can we push the Mexican authorities before they just start ignoring our pleas??? "...reluctance to antagonize authorities who initially showed interest in the case but have since moved on to other crimes..." was one of the quotes there... so true.. in the beginning the American Consulate and the Mexican police took information from us...  answered our phone calls... gave us some semblance of hope.. Now we barely get lip-service from them, if we even get them to answer the phones... Where can we find someone with some human kindness to help us find our missing... can't these people imagine how they would feel if it were their father, husband or brother who was missing. It is a special kind of hell for those families of men and women missing without a trace in Mexico (and other countries) around the world... not knowing what has happened to them, imagining the worst and dealing with a range of suggestions by ignorant people that do nothing to help and can only hurt people already hurting beyond imagining. Again, the border newspapers here have reported another weekend of pitched battles in and around Matamoros, Tamaulipas... Until "they" get a handle on the violence, I don't see how we can get any news from there that we can believe.....

4 months ago today is when John went missing and still nothing as far as where he is or what happened to him. It has been a hard 4 months but my hopes are still that one day he will show up or call me.

I'm sorry to hear of John going missing.  I hope you find him.  I know first hand the pain and frustration of the unknown.

This is great progress - real pity you need to work so hard to get it. If I set up a conference line next week, could we (me, Adriana, Renee, Deb) connect to plot a Texas campaign? I think it's really needed, and since we got a bit of progress in NJ it might help to have Texas doing the same.
