What we know..

Owns aquarium/pet store in Matamoros, MX, and disappeared during the battles between the Mexican military and the Gulf Cartels and Zetas in that city, beginning on Nov.5, 2010. US Consulate has only ascertained that he is not in any hospital in that city or surrounding cities, and nothing more. They say they are not able to do any searching themselves but must rely on the Mexican authorities.

Yet another one goes missing.... http://www.krgv.com/news/local/story/Family-Fears-Relative-Kidnappe...

Only the difference this time is the last line in the story... The FBI is investigating.....

I am curious as to what would get the FBI involved when they say they can't in the cases of John and Arturo and the others.... Is it because this is the first case with a "credible witness"? Or do you think the government is finally starting to acknowledge there is a problem???? Any ideas???

Went to Matamoros Mx. on Monday to give the DNA sample. The American Consulates office called and they had someone to escort me to the morgue and do the translations for me. I was very shocked and at the same time pleased that they finally did something. Now with over 150 bodies to sort thru its a wait and see game. So please keep John in you prayers that he is not there.

For anyone who has missing loved ones in Mexico I got a call from the consulates office today asking for DNA to assist the morgues in Matamoros area to help make sure my son in not in the mass graves they have discovered. If you have not been contacted to do this I would urge you to call the consulates office to find out how to go about this.

CNN did what seemed to be a pretty comprehensive story on David Hartley and his widow last night... http://www.cnn.com/2011/CRIME/03/09/murder.in.mexico.falcon.lake/in...

Now if we could just get them interested in the missing Americans who were also just vacationing, working and living in Mexico (and other places) when they disappeared. The Hartley tragedy has been well-reported. Our stories have not, at least not on a national scale. Sadly, I had never even heard about most of the people in the groups here until I joined. National media... WAKE UP! David Hartley is NOT the first nor, sadly, will he be the last missing American!!

The American Consulate told John's mom Deb that Border checks said the last time John crossed the border and had his passport scanned was on Sept 29th. I know for a fact that he crossed in early October because I sat at the bridge waiting for him to cross and watched him walk across at Brownsville/Matamoros. Nice to know that our borders are so secure and they know who is crossing and when.... NOT!!
