What is your interest in the Missing Americans Project?
I was a victim. I was beaten, raped and almost killed. My attacker paid off immigration to disappear my residency documents, and then I was illegally deported. Now forced out of the country, they have illegally transfered all of my assets there to their names. They stole everything - almost $2.5 million dollars worth, and no one will do anything to help and the criminals there walk free.

You may email me if you wish. I tell you, I didn't lose a loved one - but I lost my life as I knew it. I am a single mom with 3 kids and I literally got dropped off here with the shirt on my back to start over - from scratch. It has been very difficult. When I fought the deportation there, I was illegally jailed for 59 days. There were people within the immigration holding cells for 5-6 months with no contact with the outside world. Tourists from all over the world who were victims of crime (robbery, passports stolen) who were then arrested for not having an ID (even though they said their passport was stolen) and then they were held with no further explanations... I witnessed this first hand for 59 days. Lots of ex-pats and tourists that could be seen as missing. The ones who were angry and fought were punished. I saw a Columbian held in solitary in the heat, no food no water - I would not doubt that people have died while in immigration's care - and then were "taken care of" so there would be no problem. I would recommend looking into it. They get paid for how many people they have in immigration jail - daily allowances per prisoner and it is filled with a mix of totally innocent victims of crime within the country and hard core criminals who were just released from normal jail after doing 10-15-25 years and were freed with no passport. Immigration waits outside and immediately takes them in. Depending on country of origin (and cost to deport) they sit in there with the victims, sometimes a few days, sometimes 6 months...
You go into an absolute sense of disbelief that this can occur and is even real. When there, it is as though you are in the twilight zone - like some bizarre human mill where you see people come and go; hysterical, beaten shocked... something they do not share on the "welcome to our friendly country" posters. And the awareness of this is nil. No one knows what really goes on, and when you have seen it first hand, and you come out and want to scream it from the rooftops and no one really wants to hear - you get a view of the world that is very different than most people's. Now - that is the MAIN country wide immigration jail I am talking about. So, the embassy does have access if a LOT of noise is made - but think of all of the small jails throughout the country.

Kit, your story is heartbreaking. Believe me...I have learned that this is about more than missing persons and certainly more than about missing Americans. There's a panoply of wrongs that tie back to the same root causes of corruption and institutional indifference. We will work with you - I will contact you privately for further conversation.
