What we know..

Owns aquarium/pet store in Matamoros, MX, and disappeared during the battles between the Mexican military and the Gulf Cartels and Zetas in that city, beginning on Nov.5, 2010. US Consulate has only ascertained that he is not in any hospital in that city or surrounding cities, and nothing more. They say they are not able to do any searching themselves but must rely on the Mexican authorities.

Renee: You don't know the half of it - there's not a number small enough to represent the collective IQ of the U.S. State Dept. in my book.....

Honestly, though - it's not their intelligence - it's that they don't believe looking after the interests of individual American citizens is their job. That is what has to change.

Ok.. how scary is this... Deb called the State Department office in Austin TX to see if they could build a fire under the consulate in Matamoros to get someone to go to his store, talk to his daughter, etc.. The woman taking the details thought that Matamoros was near Tijuana... hmmm... only about 1500 miles away.... Austin is 300 miles from Matamoros MX, a HUGE border city sharing the Rio Grand River with Brownsville TX. Matamoros MX has been in the news constantly with the fighting between the drugs lords and the Mexican Military. Is it any wonder they can't find American citizens????

Renee - Something you guys should be thinking about is who you know who might have any influence. Start with senators, work your way down through CEOs, government bureaucrats, celebrities...people in corporate security for global companies...any connection, however tenuous. Also, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Every single phone call, phone number, names of people spoken with - date and time stamp everything. You'll want it all later. Assign someone secretary.

Actually, she just joined... so any questions I can't answer, Deb can....

Thanks Cynthia... John's mom will be joining this group tomorrow so we can share it all with her. Apparently since she is next-of-kin, the consulate prefers talking to her over me, although I reported him missing... not a problem... as Deb says, we are in this together to find John....

This is a private investigation service in Mexico. The owner and lead investigator is American, from NYC. He did some investigating in Xcalak regarding my husband's disappearance. I spoke with him on the phone. He is very professional. The Dutch State Police contacted him regarding a possible lead in my husband's case. He was very cooperative. His name is Steven Aguirre.

Hi Richard... we don't know, John's mother heard her voice in the background on one call she thinks, but the ex won't let anyone talk to her... and the consulate staff is relying on local authorities to do the searching... not high on their list of priorities when they are battling the drug lords...... Sadly, we can't get a straight answer from the ex either, when she will answer the phone she gives a different story each time...

have you contacted Texas Eqqusearch? They were very helplful to me. They made up missing posters that could be sent out. Do you know anyone else that lives there?

Rene: Just so you know - Richard is a very reliable search/rescue pro. He was very much involved in advising us while we were searching for my brother in Honduras.
